With the incredible increase in the rise of technology, the opportunity to get the word out about yourself or your product or service is greater than ever before. And unless you’ve been hiding under a rock during the past couple of years, no doubt you’ve heard about Podcasting.In fact, if you’re a tech-savvy person, you’ve probably already listened to at least one.

Now having realized the potential that’s available by having your own podcast, you’ve probably been wondering, “What could I do to create my own podcast?” If you’re a marketer then you’ve already come to this conclusion. The big question, though, is how.

One of the easiest ways to create your own podcast is to use material from your own products. Ideally it should be an audio product. But if it’s not, then you could easily record a voice-over of the content and feature it on your podcast. If you don’t have your own product, then, depending upon the type of rights associated with it or by getting permission from the author, you could use content from a product you’ve purchased.

Speaking of your own product, if you’ve done a teleseminar this would be a perfect choice for podcast content. It’s already in audio format, and you could segment it to use in successive podcast episodes. Of course, you could also choose to use highlights from the call on your podcast as a lead-in for your listeners to purchase the full audio of the call.

Another idea for podcasting content is to use audios from seminars that you’ve attended. If you’ve hosted your own seminar, then there’s no problem with product rights. Otherwise, before going this route it would be best to determine what rights you have to use the seminar’s content.

If you’re still scratching your head about what to do to create content for your podcast, don’t forget public domain content. Government publications and works written in the early 1900’s are a good place to start. Find a topic that offers information that would be of interest to your target audience and use it in your podcast.

Finally, there’s the “evergreen” method for creating original content for your podcast, doing an interview. Contact a recognized expert in your target audience’s niche and ask to do an interview with him or her. It’s a great way for the expert to get the word out about his or her products and area of expertise without spending a dime. Your guest gets free exposure and, if you’ve come up with a series of interesting and thought-provoking questions, you get killer content for your podcast.
